According to the legend, Narva-Jõesuu received its historic name Hungerburg (“hungry city”) back in the 16th century, when visiting merchants could not locate any foodstuffs . A lot has changed over the centuries and now Narva-Jõesuu offers cuisines to cater for any taste, be it gourmet cuisine, juicy burgers, Italian pasta, Caucasian dishes, homemade cakes, or fresh fish.

Transportation
The easiest way to get to Narva-Jõesuu is by private vehicle. Traveling by car allows a tourist to easily reach all objects of interest scattered across the vast territory.
You can also use public transport services, such as buses, and even a river tram.
Active vacation
Narva-Jõesuu doesn’t only comprise the town area. Same name also applies to an entire municipality, the total area of which is 404 km². In such a large area you can find many opportunities for active recreation.
In summer, cycling trips, horse riding, walking, excursions and water activities are widely available.
In winter, there are beautiful ski trails in the snowy forest or on the hills of Sinimäe.
